March 31, 2004 - American Fork Hospital Press Release
Early on the morning of March 31st a strikingly handsome couple staggered through the doors of the American Fork Hospital
located along the front of the majestic Wasatch Mountains. Four minutes later in a miraculous wave of flying towels, nurses,
and clothing, Daniel McCoy Moessing was brought screaming and kicking into this world. Tallied up, the labor had lasted a
total of 73 minutes and less than 15 contractions.
The saga began Wednesday morning at 3:36 a.m. when Jamison Amelia Stewart Moessing woke up with the pains of labor piercing
her abdomen. Realizing that this was no "false labor," she quickly awoke her confused husband and headed towards the car.
The car set off towards the hospital at break-neck speed.
Utah Highway Patrol officers Ponch and John (recently transferred from CHiPs) commented, "We saw the red Volkswagen speeding
down the highway, but when we saw the look on the passenger's face, we knew it must be something serious!" After the frantic
and uncomfortable 15 minute drive to the hospital the couple amazingly made their way inside at 4:45 a.m. where Jamie leaned
over the bed and within four minutes (4:49 a.m.) gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. "Amazing!" cried one member of the
hospital nursing staff, "I have never seen such a beautiful baby boy! Call Baby Magazine! We have a candidate for 'Baby of
the Year!'"
The measurements of the baby were taken shortly after the birth and reported to be 8 pounds 11 ounces and 21 inches in length
- perfect dimensions for an all star athlete, concert pianist, and Rhodes Scholar.
The proud parents and sister were not immediately available for comment, but cries of joy and excitement could be heard coming
from the exuberant family's room.
